Carnival of Cordite #77 w/h Tributes to Col. Jeff Cooper

417908-498952-thumbnail.jpg(Click Bang!)

Welcome back to the Carnival of Cordite, edition #77,  with as promised some good posts in memory of the Late Mr. Cooper.  Let's start with the blogger,  I lifted this photo from Xavier Thoughts who submits "Jeff Cooper on Weapons", and "Jeff Cooper on the Nanny State".  Our good friend also relates to us what he got in a trade for his Kahr K40, and some American Greenbacks!  And as a bonus special this good post, "My First 1911".

coopacp.jpg Next up, Owen's Life has a real good tribute here with "Through The Raven Gate".

Michael Bane has this really good post, "A Few Thoughts on the Passing of Jeff Cooper".

The NRA Leaders: Jeff Cooper (the bio is really informative).(from STD)

417908-498956-thumbnail.jpg Guns & Ammo: "Remembering the Colonel".  (STD)

Found this  and these cool photos on Frfrogspad.com, a compilation of articles written by Mr Cooper, including "Cooper's Corner".  He also has an excellent "Coopers Page", and a "Bibliography Project", get over and check this stuff out it's loaded with info! (STD)

How about the "Jeff Cooper Commentaries".  Snatched from TheSconce. (STD) Note the note on the bottom, for personal use, I am just linking of course.

The View from North Central Idaho (looks like the alibi has been holding up well),  submits "Jeff Cooper".

Now onto the rest of the COC #77, Hell in a Handbasket has been busy.  Let's start with  "Liza", which is an awesome post, much like Xavier's, "Ms. Myra's Gun".  Both are just outstanding post that make you think about taking your mother to the range, just to make sure....

417908-498949-thumbnail.jpg More Hell in a Handbasket with "Held against Need", along with shooting fun "Range Report on Colt Model M".  Now we all know "You Really Can't have enough Ammo!".  But wait, "It Might Be Possible to Have Too Much Ammo".

How about some Glock Talk, with "Rock & Roll Will Never Die", and he reports Firearms are tools with "Clip On".

Clayton Cramer warms my heart with this one, "Woman Shoots We-Be Burglar in Canyon Country".

Say Uncle checks in with three good posts, how about stuff being blown up in "Nifty",  also all that blogging Uncle has been doing is paying off, because the NRA is picking up on his good work, check out "Nothing But Internet-Again".  I really like this one, "Guns They Love to Hate".

417908-498953-thumbnail.jpg(check out the "Night Sights")

Cowboy Blob has me all upset, because he didn't submit anything this week!  That's OK Though, because I went over to his blog and "Stole This Cutie".

Ronacracy comments on "Stupid Cop Tricks".  Have you checked out his "Commies Section"?

417908-498950-thumbnail.jpg Mr Completely has three good ones, check out "A Range Trip with Cameron & His Dad", plus "Beretta U22 Neos Barrel Lengths".  Now it looks like the weather's bad, the Pancakes are good and off to "CWSA Bowling Pin Shoot - 10/15/6".

Also from Mad Gun, we have "Bowling Pin Shoot Report".

Hey, Free Constitution has a Carnival celebrating the Second Amendment also!  Check it out, edition 6.

Wasted_Electrons says You be the Judge with, "Can a $100 Rifle Be any Good?".

417908-498955-thumbnail.jpg(Brass fo Yo A$$)

Now for some good posts on cartridges.  First up is PawPaws House with ".338 Federal?"  Seems the .308 has been tinkered with and with interesting results.

Iron's in the Fire has this really cool post where he has been experimenting with modifying cartridges for a surplus Nagant Revolver... check it out it's neat, "Forming Brass for Nagant Revolver".

Now, I just flat out love this one from Scott Bieser, It's Schumer's Freaking Ugly Mug and Agenda on display at "Schumer's Challenge".

Seems that Liberty News has been doing some Tinkering with an AR-15, and finally he says "Simon Says Stop".

417908-496384-thumbnail.jpg(That Every Man Be Armed)

Finally into the Rodney Dangerfield's Slot goes your Host STD, with a post that has two purposes.  The first is to remind everyone that the 225th Anniversary of General George Washington and a rag-tag militia of armed citizens along with a lot of help from the French Navy, and French Infantry defeated General Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown Virginia.  I plan to tour Yorktown tomorrow, as I came down to Virginia Beach, VA tonight, and as I type this I am listening to the waves pound the beach... It's a good thing, and that the hotel I am staying at has High Speed internet connectionPsychotic.

So I humbly submit for your perusal, "225th Anniversary of Victory at Yorktown".  Thanks for dropping in on the 77th edition of the COC!  Hope to see you next week...

Carnival of Cordite "Spirit of 76' Edition

417908-495921-thumbnail.jpg (Click on that Apple pie)

Welcome to this weeks Big, Big edition of the Carnival of Cordite, "the Spirit of 76' Edition.  This week we have some great posts from the bloggers who attended the GunBloggers Rendezvous, and great submissions from those less fortunate, (like me). Many Thanks to Cowboy Blob for this week's COC graphic!

cheneyKillLawyers.jpg When I get ready to put the Carnival together, I am always looking for a "theme", and as I drove back from the Militaria Show I worked in Northern VA today (see photos), and pulled into the local Exxon to grab a dozen items (if you know what I mean) "Janie's Got a Gun" (Aerosmith) was playing on Exxon's PA system.

So of course I am walking in the Store singing "Cheney's Got a Gun", (because I have a sick political mind), and I figured, man what a great theme, and I can plug my friend "Insane Hippie", and his Bold Conservative.com, tee shirt store.  I don't like some of my competitors, but Insane Hippie is cool, and his shirts will surely put me out of business, because they are so freaking hilarious! Uh, Cheney is holding a flintlock, so that is supposed to be the connection.

Now, onto the blogger who made Reno happen, Mr Completely, and he sends us complete coverage in these posts of the Rendezvous.  First up he assures us Joe Huffman had nothing to do with this car fire, and can prove it! "W" knows he better "kiss up" to us gun bloggers and sends Dan McKown an autographed photo

Rendezvous Report one, Rendezvous Report two, and Rendezvous Report III, and the After Action Report. Plus a cool UTube on a Million RPM lead hose.

Kee Wee's take starts with "We Arrived Last Night", and onto "Thursday and Friday Night", hmm "Saturday in Reno Part one", and onto "Saturday Evening Dinner", which is a "great round up post", of Who's Who in Gun Blogging!

Big Joe "I got an alibi" Huffman was there, and serves up "I didn't Do It", Yeah right, from the guy that gave us 417908-487734-thumbnail.jpg Boomershoot? Being a chemist.

(I thought a Girls Best Friend was a Diamond?)

Next we discuss the .25 auto, Gun Bloggers Paradise, Destined to Become a Classic, (I agree), the Gun Blogger Rendezvous Wrap Up, and "State of Mind", ( We gotta get rid of those Kill Zones)

Next Up RiverDog has "GunBlogger Rendezvous, The Conclusions Derived", and I excerpt from this must read post:

You see, Dan was worried about what image he was presenting, walking through the store he was in WITH HIS GUN OUT, IN THE READY POSITION, looking for the intruder he knew to be nearby. He was worried that he, and not the intruder, would become the target of responding police.

and the Dog submits "Gun Purchasing Plan", and I must admit, these thoughts are definitely in my mind, although my hope is that a "Donk" take over of the House and Senate will not happen... I hope.

417908-494310-thumbnail.jpg(Yes, I'm here to apply for my concealed Anti Tank Gun Permit)

Say Uncle has got "the goods" on the ATF as he submits "More Stellar Performance from the ATF", and a good Gun Bloggers Rendezvous  write up with "Offensive".

Les Jones has Rendezvous thoughts with "The Intangible Part of Shooting", along with "SmartLock TriggerLock Review By Mike".

Good News from The Arms & The Law, almost done with the 2A documentary, and submitted this trailer for us!  You can tell the full version is going to Rock!

417908-494308-thumbnail.jpg(I'm going to use a very large pair of pants)

The Kallini Brothers are "pissed off" at the attitude of Gun Grabbers, see "Let's Be Reasonable", and I like the attitude of this next post, "The Definition of IS".

Ronacracy has "The Next Rifle Condemdrum", (I have been eyeballing a Yugo folder myself), 417908-495700-thumbnail.jpg and The Ravings of a Libertarian mind submits, "Gun Control Laws Artificially Inflating Prices".  (Absoluluting Freakin A!)

The one and only, Gullyborg, submits us NW Republican's post "You Name The Yardage".

Rule .303 has two good hunting posts (speaking of hunting), first "From Exotic to Trash & Visa Versa", plus "Deer Season is Nigh".

I like Tom Rant's "A Few Thoughts on Iraq", an excerpt:

Iraq is trying to enforce a ban on small arms. In the US we call that gun control and we consider it anti-freedom. Some of us consider it one of the two or three biggest threats to freedom. (Personally, excessive taxation, limits on expression and gun control are my big three.) We know that if guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.

417908-413716-thumbnail.jpg Oh, and speaking of the Spirit of 76' The Revolutionary War Veterans Assoc. Weblog presents, RWVA celebrates UN Day-Ramseur NC 10/21.

Random Nuclear Strikes has thought on Gun Bigots vs. Gun Rights with "This is One of Those Times".

Josh's Weblog has an interesting and well documented submission here with "Pac NW. Shooting Park vs. City of Sequim", and excerpt:

I have noted before that preemption prevented municipalities and counties from restricting concealed carry on their various properties but with this ruling I predict the return to a multitude of new regulations to harass our people and eat out their substance. There is a glimmer of light in the opinion of the court:

417908-494309-thumbnail.jpg(Jeep needs to make .50 cals. Standard again)

Here is a cool submission from Lagniappe's Lair who relates his day at the range "enhanced" by being on crutches, check out "Another Fun Range Day".

Whoa, Clayton Cramer submits "Baby Sitter Kills Bear To Protect Children", you don't see that everyday!

And the Posse says:

Our contribution focuses on the importance of the armed populace in preserving our way of life - and how even in the present war, America's armed citizenry remain one of its greatest strengths.
417908-494307-thumbnail.jpg(check out my Willy's)
Dig This submission, "A Well Regulated Militia".
And into the "Rodney Dangerfield Slot goes Toy's In the Attic because he just pulled off a great find, "Freebies".
Thanks one and all for visiting this weeks edition of the Carnival of Cordite!  Next Week we want all your Jeff Cooper submissions!!
