Carnival of Cordite #77 w/h Tributes to Col. Jeff Cooper
Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 07:09PM Welcome back to the Carnival of Cordite, edition #77, with as promised some good posts in memory of the Late Mr. Cooper. Let's start with the blogger, I lifted this photo from Xavier Thoughts who submits "Jeff Cooper on Weapons", and "Jeff Cooper on the Nanny State". Our good friend also relates to us what he got in a trade for his Kahr K40, and some American Greenbacks! And as a bonus special this good post, "My First 1911".
Next up, Owen's Life has a real good tribute here with "Through The Raven Gate".
Michael Bane has this really good post, "A Few Thoughts on the Passing of Jeff Cooper".
The NRA Leaders: Jeff Cooper (the bio is really informative).(from STD)
Guns & Ammo: "Remembering the Colonel". (STD)
Found this and these cool photos on Frfrogspad.com, a compilation of articles written by Mr Cooper, including "Cooper's Corner". He also has an excellent "Coopers Page", and a "Bibliography Project", get over and check this stuff out it's loaded with info! (STD)
How about the "Jeff Cooper Commentaries". Snatched from TheSconce. (STD) Note the note on the bottom, for personal use, I am just linking of course.
The View from North Central Idaho (looks like the alibi has been holding up well), submits "Jeff Cooper".
Now onto the rest of the COC #77, Hell in a Handbasket has been busy. Let's start with "Liza", which is an awesome post, much like Xavier's, "Ms. Myra's Gun". Both are just outstanding post that make you think about taking your mother to the range, just to make sure....
More Hell in a Handbasket with "Held against Need", along with shooting fun "Range Report on Colt Model M". Now we all know "You Really Can't have enough Ammo!". But wait, "It Might Be Possible to Have Too Much Ammo".
How about some Glock Talk, with "Rock & Roll Will Never Die", and he reports Firearms are tools with "Clip On".
Clayton Cramer warms my heart with this one, "Woman Shoots We-Be Burglar in Canyon Country".
Say Uncle checks in with three good posts, how about stuff being blown up in "Nifty", also all that blogging Uncle has been doing is paying off, because the NRA is picking up on his good work, check out "Nothing But Internet-Again". I really like this one, "Guns They Love to Hate".
(check out the "Night Sights")
Cowboy Blob has me all upset, because he didn't submit anything this week! That's OK Though, because I went over to his blog and "Stole This Cutie".
Ronacracy comments on "Stupid Cop Tricks". Have you checked out his "Commies Section"?
Mr Completely has three good ones, check out "A Range Trip with Cameron & His Dad", plus "Beretta U22 Neos Barrel Lengths". Now it looks like the weather's bad, the Pancakes are good and off to "CWSA Bowling Pin Shoot - 10/15/6".
Also from Mad Gun, we have "Bowling Pin Shoot Report".
Hey, Free Constitution has a Carnival celebrating the Second Amendment also! Check it out, edition 6.
Wasted_Electrons says You be the Judge with, "Can a $100 Rifle Be any Good?".
Now for some good posts on cartridges. First up is PawPaws House with ".338 Federal?" Seems the .308 has been tinkered with and with interesting results.
Iron's in the Fire has this really cool post where he has been experimenting with modifying cartridges for a surplus Nagant Revolver... check it out it's neat, "Forming Brass for Nagant Revolver".
Now, I just flat out love this one from Scott Bieser, It's Schumer's Freaking Ugly Mug and Agenda on display at "Schumer's Challenge".
Seems that Liberty News has been doing some Tinkering with an AR-15, and finally he says "Simon Says Stop".
Finally into the Rodney Dangerfield's Slot goes your Host STD, with a post that has two purposes. The first is to remind everyone that the 225th Anniversary of General George Washington and a rag-tag militia of armed citizens along with a lot of help from the French Navy, and French Infantry defeated General Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown Virginia. I plan to tour Yorktown tomorrow, as I came down to Virginia Beach, VA tonight, and as I type this I am listening to the waves pound the beach... It's a good thing, and that the hotel I am staying at has High Speed internet connection![]()
So I humbly submit for your perusal, "225th Anniversary of Victory at Yorktown". Thanks for dropping in on the 77th edition of the COC! Hope to see you next week...
