Flag Day

(click on this little known WW1 Memorial in Staunton, VA) Today is flag day, and the US Army celebrates it's birthday today, some thing I did not realize until I saw this post by the ArmChair Generalist. Below the Beltway is also showing their "True Colors"
Of interest is this photo to the left. I went out on a mission Memorial Day weekend to find all the War Memorials in Staunton, VA and found this one next to the Presidents House on the grounds of Mary Baldwin College. It was erected by the Staunton Military Academy (of which the buildings are now part of MBC ?), and it is dedicated to all the citizens of the City of Staunton and Augusta County who gave their lives fighting in World War One.
Pretty Neat huh?
Bearing Drift has an awesome photo and post on Flag Day!! and as always, patriotic the Cat House Chat:
May this flag of red, white, and blue continue to fly over this great country for many, many years to come. I pray that we, as a nation, remember what the colors in our Seal, and thus, our Flag symbolize:
- Red - for hardiness and valor
- White - for purity and innocence
- Blue - for vigilence, perseverance, and justice
Nice....
