Gathering Storm, and a little more..

417908-459634-thumbnail.jpg We all make mistakes as bloggers.  Sometimes we even say things we shouldn't when we get all "heated up" in a debate.  Most of us would apologize for that, and take some humility, even Medium Rare Crow on Occasion, and hopefully be better bloggers for it.

Three really good bloggers mentioned in this post here, by From On High are pointing out something that really should be addressed (in my opinion), by the Webb Campaign; because I think that if Jon Henke, who is Senator Allen's new "Netroots Co-ordinator" had mentioned something similar and defaming of James Webb....  We'd be hearing a " Chorus of Trumpets" it in "trumpets of chorus" from the Left side of the Blogosphere.  These guys get offended easily, and for some things we don't even realize exist, (maybe this is not a great example but I think you guys "get my drift")

417908-459636-thumbnail.jpg I think this also needs to be addressed, because quite frankly it has bothered me every since I first saw it at RK, and this reference (Dick Wad (Hams) is repeated, time and time again. I do not know where this started.  Maybe Lowell and Mr. Wadhams have had words... and that is ok, keep those words between yourselves, not in the blogosphere, because I think that is a little too personal, and I do not think it adds to the normal political discourse.

For instance, Josh Cernila and I exchanged a lot of private, or one on one stuff, that I would never publish on my blog at the Blogs United in Martinsville For Free Speech .  We were just talking politics and having fun, and even if Josh had called me some kind of name, or what ever, that would be between he and I, not the blogosphere.

I only commented (as noted in the above link), on the official question Josh posed to LG Bolling regarding the use of the reference to Democrat or Democratic Party, because hey, that's fair game.  We were all were privy to that and it was part of the proceedings/format of Blogs United.

Should STD, (my self personally, or if some one crazy enough to publish with me on STD) ever engage in this conduct, please feel free to reference this post, and make me "Eat Some Crow", until then, I think Lowell's references  to Mr. Wadhams should cease.  STD is now departing the "Soap Box", feel free to discuss among yourselves, comment, and/or ignore me as so many others do :-)

I absolutely agree. It's childish behavior, but, quite frankly, it's what I have come to expect from the left.

What I do not understand is people who openly curse in print, or in this case make a very vulgar reference to someone's name... Repeatedly, in the Title of Posts... w/o any means of cover*&$ it up.

We are setting examples for youth, who may want or will blog... they will think that is OK conduct...

While, I too take exception to Lowell's blogging style from time to time, I can't fault his passion. Lowell doesn't lie. He never blatantly called Allen a racist, he only asked if anyone could possibly doubt it. Riley came out and actually accused RK of being in violation of Federal Election Law, which it isn't. Since that's a lie (factually incorrect) and it wouldn't be hard to establish malice, all RK would need to do would be to show some significant loss resulting from the malicious lie to have a law suit. So, anyway there is a difference. Isn't Riley supposed to be a lawyer or something?

Well, Lowell does use the epithet thing like "Taliban" / "Sodomy" Bob McDonnell, which I've never favored, but for me politics is about social movements and broad stroke culture change. I tend to write about the 55% of the Republican party that will never ask a question and believes we're in the end times in the shadow of the antichrist. Or I like to point out that the Conservative movement has failed America and made the party of Lincoln into a party of ignorance, hatred and greed. Or I tend to deride Republicans who try to distance themselves from Bush because hey, they brought 'im, they gotta dance with him. So there's a difference. Who's right? Is all politics personal? I think it's a matter of style.

For Lowell, politics is more personal and he's not afraid to hit hard. I find it humorous, that after years of hearing the invective of the Coulters, O'Rileys and Hannitites of the world, that the right has such a hard time taking a punch. I mean, what a bunch of crybabies. As Al Franken observed of Ann Coulter, she says outrageous things and then plays the victim. At least Lowell doesn't whine that there's a war on chanukah. What a bunch of wimps.

So, Chris, you know, you and I appear to be on opposite sides of the issues in many cases. At Martinsville, you won some debates and I'm proud of the few times I cleaned your clock. It doesn't dampen my hopes that you'll come around eventually and start voting for the party that actually represents the interestes of the nation and the commonwealth. The Democrat[ic] party is the party of ideas, people, Responsible Government, Leading the World by Example and ultimately the party of the future. You're smart enough to know the difference between a visionary and a reactionary and I know you'll come around to support Jim Webb in this year's US Senate race.

But enough of this high-horse stuff, I have to admit and you do too that every time I type STD in reference to this blog it tickles my inner Bevis... he he he... He said STD... he he he...

Josh:
Thanks for googling STD today (just for research terms of course), and landing Here :-) Of course you know, I am just some greedy Capitalist, that is sure the world will be ending soon, because surely a Dem somewhere has 666 tatooed behind his ear, and well, I better make it quick in the blogging world, so I chose a "Psued" that is somewhat controversial, and easy to find....

I get a lot of hits from Demo.... I mean, people just searching "spank" (that was a joke, but true of the hits).

Thanks for commenting though, On the issue of Riley Vs, RK legally, I have no clue, but it sure seems to have "raised some hairs" over there...

As far as damages, I bet your hits are up because of the controversy, and since it is your jobs to get more "eyeballs" to RK, I doubt any damage is done. I believe he has the right to 'speculate" on his interpretation of the rules.

You're defending Lowell, as a friend, and cohort should, but he should really defend himself, ( and not send you out like at Martinsville :-). I understand passion, Lord knows, I will surely step in something before long, (hope not), but if I blog long enough.....

Passion happens once, he is repeatedly attacking Mr Wadhams, in a pretty vulgar way, and my understanding (passing around a couple emails to friends), no one thinks they have met and had the exchange I speculated on earlier.

As a blogger unattached to any campaign, you can only destroy your own reputation, but as actual staff, and compensated... He is over the line in my opinion, which of course is just that, my opinion. He is really hurting Webb.. in his capacity. Picture Tony Snow referring to Katie (and a play on her last name) Couric.

As for voting for Jim, this time, It can not happen because of what the MSM will "spin the results" to be "Get out of Iraq Now", GWB is the lamest, of lamest ducks....blah, blah, blah,

Not with troops in the field, never... I feel so badly for what happened to our Vietnam Vets, when the political legs were cut from under them...

Plus, I really think GWB, has made the right Strategic move...

Chris,

I was just told over at NLS not to be so damned smug, so I'll try to be brief and not blog tired:

Lowell's not doing anything to Dick Wadhams that Wadhams hasn't done to a hundred political adversaries. Having him cry wolf or having Allen supporters cry wolf is pure hypocrisy. This is full contact stuff and we ain't seen nuthin' yet. The national Republican party is already distributing doomsday literature about how horrible life will be after the election if Dems win. We haven't even gotten started with the Republican dirty tricks. We can expect faked mailers and robocalls like Kilgore did. Remember those? On the eve of the election, Kilgore sent out fake endorsements of Potts to known liberals that pretened to be from the Democratic party, but were printed by RPV or his campaign. Remember that stuff. And they only had Ken Hutcheson and Scott Howell running their stuff. Allen's got the A-Team: Howell, Wadhams, Matlin.

Anyway, don't go crying too hard for Dick Wadhams. He's been crying enough for the both of you in the press lately.

Meanwhile, don't misconstrue Webb's Iraq position. He's never been for "get out now", but he's never been for "stay forever and occupy a civil war" either. You really should read his Iraq address - it's consistent and cogent and considering the source it's doubly important.

This is a guy who grew up military, was raised redneck, came of age roughneck, and then became a hero, and a statesman. This is a guy arguing that Military opinions should be respected in military matters, which has certainly not been the case with this Iraq disaster.

My wife wants us out of Iraq. Want to know why? Because our son is 2 years old and she's sure if the country keeps going the way it is, we'll still be at war in Iraq when he turns 18 and they'll have long since re-instiitued the Draft by then.

Ultimately, it comes down to trust. America doesn't trust Bush or the Republican congress to prosecute this war, because it's now clear that the allegiance of this Adminstration is with large scale moneyed interests and not with regular people. What do you expect when you put oil men in charge of the country?

Webb's got integrity, and everyone who knows him trusts him. This is the year for change and Webb's the tripping point. When the tidal wave washes over, the crest will break in Virginia. After that event, I would much rather have a guy like Jim Webb helping lead the world by example.

Josh:
I don't think VA voters are going to warm to Mr Wadhams being referred to as ejaculate.

On Webb's Iraq War position, he never wanted to go in the first place (see post) http://www.spankthatdonkey.com/spankthatdonkey2/2006/7/2/webb-flawed-strategic-thinker.html

His only position now is really, "Let's take the current Military Plan (stand down, when they stand up), take off the "R" for Pub, and put a "D" on for Democratic. The main difference is that the "D" plan threatens for us to leave much earlier.

As for the American People not trusting Bush to fight the war on terror, I would point out the 04 election, and that decision on their part to elect Bush has seen no major attacks on American Soil.

You guys are just saying that, over and over again (don't trust Bush) in hope it will stick. American's can be pragmatic, and I think Virginian's more so. Jim will have to wait and battle for John Warner's seat in 09', which bodes well for your employment opportunities :-)

I have a feeling Lowell will not be with you though....

Here's my prediction:

In 2008, Lowell will be blogroots lead for Warner for Prez;

Josh will be heading up Senator Webb's Northern Virginia District Office;

Wadhams, Gillespie and LaCivita will be on work release from Club Fed;

And you will be trying to explain it all away on this blog.
