Open Carry in Virginia- What It's a Right?
VCDL the premier Right to Carry grassroots organization in Va, and maybe nationwide, sent me this tonight:
Nightline spent most of the day filming at the VCDL picnic on
Saturday. The topic is open carry and its recent surge in popularity
with many gun owners.
The story is going to run TONIGHT (Wednesday), so have your recorders
ready! It should start about 11:35 PM, just after the local news on
your local ABC channel.
Here is some information from a Nightline email that went out today
(thanks to Bill Rogers for forwarding):
--Bearing Arms
The gun debate continues to brew in Virginia, where memories of the
Virginia Tech shootings are still raw. One group is at work defending
its "right to keep and bear arms." The Virginia Citizen's Defense
League is in full-force behind "open carry" laws. ABC's John Donvan
reports.
Anti - Gunners take your meds, Freak outs start apparently around 10pm!
People wonder, how in the heck do you get the right to carry a firearm openly in public.... Well duh.... When we first established a Colony here in the early 1600's, every one carried... 'openly'... 1700's, 1800's,1900's, damn even in the 21rst Century, our General Assembly never banned carrying a firearm. Only to people who have no sense of history, can this be a puzzling, or even disturbing thought.
Bitter Gun Owners-United & Vote !
I got this ILA alert today, and thought it was hilarious.
By now, you’ve all heard the Obama “bitter” quote: “And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” And it probably struck a nerve with you. Well, we’ve created a new yard sign that will send a message from all of you “bitter” gun owners to Obama this election season: Our “I’m a Bitter Gun Owner and I Vote!” yard sign.
Further:
It has been estimated that well-placed campaign signs can account for four percentage points on Election Day. Think back to the 2000 presidential election where 537 votes in Florida separated George W. Bush from Al Gore, and four points seems like a landslide! While you are focused like a laser beam on the November 4 election, some gun owners may not be aware of what’s at stake for the future of the Second Amendment on Election Day.
Governor Gilmore sits on the Board of Directors for the NRA... Wonder where the gun vote is headed in Virginia?
