To Allen and Goode: Where is Your Leadership?

nobs.bmp I was sent over this link, from a blogger that I was unaware of, but has this excellent post "An open Letter to George Allen, Virgil Goode, Steve Landes", and excerpt:

By “that,” I mean disappoint so many of your friends and most loyal supporters without, to the best of my knowledge, consulting local party leaders first or offering the rest of us an explanation of why you think incumbency is important enough to support someone who has voted regularly against what we thought were your positions, especially when faced with such an impressive challenger who does support what you have stood for. If you couldn’t have demonstrated the courage of seven of the eight Republican committee chairs in the district, including Albemarle’s Keith Drake, who in an unprecedented move endorsed Scott, at least you should have emulated Delegates Rob Bell and Chris Saxman and not endorsed anyone.

FORMER Senator Allen, Rep. Goode, Del. Landes, Thanks for your support of the 'grass roots' in the 24th District... Oh, wait a minute, only one of you are actually in our district...  Or maybe FORMER Sen. Allen from Albemarle County did vote in our primary?  I can't wait for confirmation of that.....

JAB has an excellent view of all three of you here, "Virginia's Revolt, Not A Revolution Yet",   his words ring so true:

There is a palatable sense of betrayal held by many common folk for elected officials, former elected officials and party officials who support incumbents who betray campaign promises and party creeds to raise taxes and expand government. There is genuine disgust with reflexive Republicans - those Republicans who would support - name your villain - no matter what they do in office as long as they were once elected as Republicans.

I didn't know that you THE 'career politicians'  believed so firmly in a:

  • 5% tax on the wholesale tax on gasoline
  • Tripling the Grantors Tax on Real Estate
  • Doubling the registration tags on vehicles with with Gross vehicle weights over 10,000 lbs.
  • Increasing the Sales and Use Tax on all vehicles by 25%
  • Giving In - State tuition discounts to illegal aliens, after only evading our laws for only three years?

Thanks for coming into our 24th District to prop up a RINO, who would force these taxes  & reward ILLEGAL ALIENS RIGHTS upon us.  We have fought for each and ever one of you, and you show us your gratitude by showing us that 'Career Politician Blood' is thicker among the 'CLUB', than by standing by your own principles, and votes....

Next time you run for office, please make each and every one of these issues part of your platforms... We Can Not wait for that..... Tell Us, exactly what you stand for... Don't make us wait around to really see what you stand for, just give it to us straight....

We  are having to stick to our party, and support your RINO, because of your support for him... I want to THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!  (ALONG WITH ALL THE DEMOCRATS THAT VOTED FOR HANGER AS WELL). We'll support Senator Hanger because he is what YOU HAVE FORCED UPON US, but we will be thinking about each and every one of you in the coming elections....

You see WE LOOK TO YOU FOR LEADERSHIP!  Isn't it a shame you didn't get to come to the aide of Potts and Chichester... at least they spared you the shame of not running, so you wouldn't have to sully yourselves on their altars of 'Back scratching'!

Sincerely,

The folks who fought for you in the trenches, and on the blogs...

More from SWAC GIRL

Hooray for Herndon!

Thanks in no small part to the efforts of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, the Herndon town council voted 6-1 Tuesday night to partner with ICE to train Herndon police to (get this) ENFORCE THE LAW. That’s right: Herndon police are going to apply for a federal program to train them in enforcing THE LAW (8 U.S.C. 1324-1325, to be precise).

It seems there has been a bit of reluctance in some communities for police to ENFORCE THE LAW simply because the law is federal. I never understood this whole argument about “it’s a federal crime, not a local crime”—in spite of the fact that 8 U.S.C. 1324(c) explicitly states: “All officers whose duty it is to enforce criminal laws shall have authority to make arrests for a violation of any provision of this section.” Kidnapping across state lines is a federal crime. Would local police not arrest a kidnapper because kidnapping across state lines is a federal crime?

Last year, ignoring the many residents of Herndon who supported the rule of law, the Herndon Town Council went beyond failure to enforce the law and chose to aid and abet law breaking when it voted to create the infamous day laborer site. The vote was a mixed blessing—while outrageous, it sparked an even greater outcry which led to the ouster of the mayor and two council members. Now, not only has Herndon’s government voted to embrace law enforcement, it is considering measures that would crack down on employers who are breaking the law.

So, Hooray for Herndon!

Personal promo: The success of the grassroots movement in Herndon to support the rule of law will be a topic of discussion in my panel on illegal immigration at the VCAP Conservative Convention…Border Security is National Security: The Costs and Perils of Illegal Immigration and the Grassroots Movement to Support the Rule of Law.
