Congratulations Anne!

Anne Taetzsch won nothing short of  a mandate winning her re-election bid for Chair of the Staunton GOP Committee 58-20.  For those of you who may try and spin this, that is almost 3-1 support among Staunton City Republicans.

A near furor erupted when the Nominations Committee excluded some long time Republican Committee members from being voting members on the reconstituted Committee Membership for inter committee voting purposes.  I will not use names here, but these individuals were the culprits of disrupting the Staunton Committee meetings over the past 6 months.  The final decision on who will fill all of the slots will be decided upon by Taetzsch, as the case should be.  If Anne had only won by a small margin an argument could be made that a large portion of those opposing her should be voting members.

However, those members of the committee who have not allowed her committee to function properly, by constantly causing disruptions, and quite frankly unlady and ungentlemanly like conduct should be only allowed voting rights on the Committee at the Chairs discretion.

I for one can attest to members of this opposition making loud disparaging remarks at today's proceedings towards Anne in the presence of her own family.   That kind of public misconduct, is beyond the pale, and I hope that the Chair excludes them from membership.  Therefore,  should they attend future meetings as is their right, but become disruptive, the Chair does not have to recognize them, per Roberts Rules of Order, and can direct a Sgt. at Arms to eject them from the Meeting.

Congratulations Anne!

Staunton Mass Meeting - Letter To the Editor

batman&robin.bmp(Holy MSM Meddling!)

It will be interesting to see if this letter see finds the light of day over at the Staunton News Leader. I tried numerous times to submit it on-line last night but kept getting an error message.

Regardless In a summarized form this is how I feel about it:

It seems the SNL Op-Ed page has more unsolicited advice for local Republicans, “Vote Your Conscience” . I must admit that not referring to local GOP Committee Leadership as ‘snakes’ this time is an improvement. Stating however, that Republican voters handed a victory this May to Senator Hanger is inaccurate.

Consider that out of 14,372 votes cast, Scott Sayre was bested by 866 votes. As witnessed by your resident ‘Progressive’ Al Dahler’s recent op-ed, and even Democratic Candidate David Cox’s post primary admission; Democrats came out en masse into our GOP primary. If only one in ten voters, or 1,432 voters were Democrats voting for Senator Hanger, it is certain who the actual winner was among Republican voters.

Why is it that our local Delegates Saxman, Landes, or Cline did not face a primary challenge? The reason is simply that all three have voted against every tax increase that Hanger voted for in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and yes even this year’s five cents per gallon gas tax increase, as applauded by Dahler.

The News Leader’s primary coverage mentioned over and over again that local Republicans were angry over a lone 2004 vote, whereas the reality was that he is a reliable vote for any tax increase proposed by the Democrats in Richmond.

Anne Taetzsch has done an admirable job as Chair of the Staunton Committee. When Senator Hanger prevailed in the primary she and the other chairs fell in line behind Hanger. Despite the fact we were taunted by this newspaper, local Democrats and Libertarians who were hoping to get us to break away, and support Libertarian Arin Sime, and give Cox a shot at victory in the general election.

That didn’t happen, because we believe in our party, and we believe we have a right to choose who represents our party, without interference from others. The local GOP Committees consist of volunteers who seek to keep our elected officials accountable to party principles. What happens when the elected officials control every facet of the Party? That will be the decision in the coming mass meetings. Do you want local GOP leaders beholden to our elected officials or independent leaders willing to stand up to them?

You May recall that Not Larry Sabato scalded the SNL with this post after the primary.

Barking Up The Wrong Tree

The smear that AP Reporter Bob Lewis spewed all over Virginia is getting a second look by other MSM professionals.  Seems "that dog don't hunt" Bob.

Next Gov. Jim Gilmore will be accused of buying the plane tickets for Osama & Co. on 9-11?  I mean 9-11 occurred when Gov. Gilmore was in office, there must be a connection right?

Oh wait a minute, that's right, Gov. Jim Gilmore already had a plan in case terrorists did attack Virginia, and it was in place long before 9-11.  So maybe that is the circumstantial evidence for him VP Cheney and President GWB planning 9-11?

Meanwhile, the Democrats and MSM 'Golden Boy' Gov. Mark Warner was majoring in Washington DC, & selling government assets for profit?  Now that sounds like a story an honest news hound should be sniffing out!  Here's another good look at it.

One thing for sure we need to be sending multi-millionaire Gov. Warner to DC so he can work on his Masters degree, and launch himself into billionaire status?  It seems only Democrats can get away with these kind of schemes, while Republicans are held to a much higher standard.  I get this mental image of Gov. Warner rubbing the belly of twitching little news hound rolling around on its back, wagging its tail in glee.  Gov 'I majored in DC' is saying, "good boy, good boy"!
