My First State RPV Convention
How about some Atlanta Rhythm Section for whom I will be supporting.
ODBA Turns Down Suite Offer
So many posts have gone into the Jeffersoniad Suite that you would think.....
Just a short announcement, members of the ODBA were approached/offered funding for a similar venture; however, it can be revealed that with $$ so tight now in what will be a tough November. We asked said unnamed benefactor/s to put the $$$ into the current campaigns...
Our real work gets done online...
Why Won't Bob Marshall Save Us From Kaine's Tax Increases?
(Click My Tin) They say I'm wearing a Tin Foil Cap, but have you seen a decent explanation yet for why Delegate Bob Marshall voted to stop off shore drilling, sustaining a (ahem) Governor Warner Veto?
The connection between Governor Warner and Marshall on this is inescapable. Not a peep either about whether Marshall would stop Kaine from packing the committee that will rule on the Coal Plant in Wise County. Exactly how does a Bob Marshall think he is going to win in November without solid support from SWVA?
But the main point of this post is that opening up Virginia's coast to off shore drilling would provide boocoo royalties to the Commonwealth, that might actually salve Governor 'Taxem till They Bleed's soul? I say that with a question mark, because we all know Kaine campaigned for a Transportation Lock Box, and has yet to demand one from the Virginia Senate.
Bob Marshall tells us, that he is the only one who can be trusted on the tax issue?
The facts don't add up folks.
(I need to get these guys a photo of me so they can do er up right next time) ![]()
Oh and BTW Gilmorals? Who's running around saying that Gilmore is killing 700,000 babies annually? What kind of morals do people have to actually claim that? OH Snap, Gilmore can change his position and the Roe vs. Wade decision just goes poof?
Meanwhile, Marshall's 'position' is saving babies as you read this? Puhhhleasssse....
Marshall Pro-Lifers This is For You
Look, We are all drawn into the political arena typically by one issue. Mine was the defense of the 2nd Amendment, followed closely by taxes. Many others are Pro-Life, Limited Government, or other such issues that bring us together and we choose a political party that we feel represents us best.
I like to see the Big Tent theory in this way. Us GOPers have positions or poles that hold up our tent. Let's say it is 8 poles, or positions. If you can agree with say four, five or six of those positions, come on in. However, once you are in but still do not agree with those other two poles, don't knock them down, as it will cause that part of the tent to collapse.
Now one of the main supporters poles/positions in the GOP party has been the Pro-Life pole. This pole burdens under the weight of the Roe vs. Wade ruling that has made abortion legal across the nation. It is the Federal law.
Fast forward to this years US Senate nomination between Governor Gilmore and Delegate Bob Marshall. Marshall supporters are claiming that Governor Gilmore is killing 700,000 babies annually. His position is killing those babies?
That is not a true statement. Governor Gilmore has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Pro-Life movement his entire political career. One of his major achievements was enacting a 24 hour waiting period before some one can get an abortion in Virginia. But this is what one commenter, and Pro-Life advocate over at Shaun's blog has to say about it:

LOL- Gilmore advanced the pro-life agenda about as much as Obama did at his Planned Parenthood fundraiser... in case you didn't notice- signing a bill that ALLOWS abortions to happen in the first 12 weeks is NOT a pro-life agenda to advertise. Signing a bill that allows an abortion after making you wait another 24 hours- is NOT a pro-life agenda to be proud of either. Gilmore did both. Compromising principals is not a good virtue- neither is letting babies die.
(emphasis mine)
Come on people, this is an outrageous attack on a Governor who also as Attorney General helped Governor Allen get Parental Notification on the books, and fought to save Hugh Finn's Right to Life. A case very similar to the Terry Shiavo case, right here in Virginia.
As Governor he also Signed a Partial Birth Abortion Ban into law in Virginia, and insisted in his budgets that abstinence programs be part of Sex Education curriculum in our public schools. He also increased funding for adoptions. Does this sound like a guy who is trying to tear down the Pro-Life Pole in our tent?
Does the vitriol coming from some Pro-Lifers now towards our former Governor warranted? Ask yourselves, is it really warranted? Governor Gilmore has moved the Pro-Life football forward in Virginia, and I believe him when he said that Roe Vs. Wade was wrongly decided, and that it will be a Great Day in America when it is overturned.
It is great to advocate for your issue, but it is another thing to tear a guy down when he is really on your team. Now I know this post may not persuade you to support Governor Gilmore at the Convention. I understand that, but if he is successful as our nominee how can you not support a guy that has been working in the same tent you have been laboring in, and strengthening the very poll that supports your part of the tent.
How about if we all keep these thoughts in mind before, and after the convention.
Sincerely,
Chris Green,

WSLS Interview: MSM Licking Their Lips
I just watched this interview, and if it were shown at the convention I bet some minds would be changed. Bob is a great delegate with the exceptions like his domestic energy positions. I've always said that. If he got the nomination though much of his press coverage would be like this. Fair, heck no, but their reality of the world and ours is two totally different things.
Their coverage of the War on Terror has been atrocious. Alqaeda doesn't have a greater ally than the MSM. Liberal Democrats do not have any greater ally than the completely biased MSM. Imagine Ted Kennedy's funeral, I bet their won't be any looks into the trunk, (of his car).
Now granted Governor Gilmore isn't going to get any fairer treatment, but he hasn't provided them with any juicy sound bites, and seriously controversial statements like WSLS parlayed in their piece. It probably has a lot to do with Governor Gilmore's Army Intelligence and Legal Training. Only tell the enemy what they need to know, and what you would like them to know.
One thing that burns me up though is the 700,000 baby figure... Like Governor Gilmore's 'position' on abortion is currently killing babies.... What BS. Governor Gilmore's 24 hour waiting period, and mandatory sit down with a physician to discuss the abortion procedure with a doctor? Now what is the net lives saved?
It get's worse though...

I have never heard the 24 Hour waiting period described as a Pro-Abortion piece of legislation. This is what is being spread among the Pro-Life folks? This is where the Marshall people's train goes off the tracks. Roe vs. Wade is the law of the land, until it gets over turned by the Supreme Court. Again, it is the law of the land, that is why Governor Gilmore's 'position' isn't killing one baby... no not one.... but the beat rolls on with the poisoning Governor Gilmore with the Pro-Lifers?
Back on subject:
If it were to win the nomination for Marshall, we get who how many weeks of WSLS interviews on just how the Republican Party just couldn't get far enough to the right?
Marshall is a good delegate, and I'd like to see him get a leadership position in the General Assembly, but the choice is clear on US Senate nominee. It has to be Governor Jim Gilmore.
